About the Department: In order to implement the decree PD-4795 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 30, 2020, on “Measures to Further Improve the Agricultural Education System,” the Department for Scientific Research, Innovations, and the Training of Scientific and Pedagogical Personnel at the Andijan Institute of Agriculture and Agrotechnologies has been rebranded and is actively operating.

The main goal of the department: Is to create opportunities for conducting scientific research in the priority directions of the country’s economy to further develop the scientific potential of the Andijan Institute of Agriculture and Agrotechnologies by training scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel.

During its activities, the department performs the following tasks:

    1. ensuring the implementation and monitoring of the laws, decrees, resolutions, and orders of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on education, as well as the decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers, resolutions of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, and departmental orders at the institute, faculties, and departments;
    2. general management of the department’s activities and staff;
    3. development and implementation of the department’s work plans;
    4. coordination of ongoing research activities at the educational institution;
    5. coordinate the research work carried out by professors and teachers of the institute at the departments, and monitor the correctness of the working documentation;
    6. organization and coordination of the institute’s scientific, innovative, and publishing activities;
    7. facilitating the participation and supervision of professors, researchers, doctoral students, and independent researchers in competitions, grants, and state programs in the field of innovation within the framework of innovative, practical, fundamental, and start-up projects;
    8. collaboration with faculty deans, department heads, leading professors, and young scientists to involve them in scientific research, innovative projects, and fundamental and applied research competitions;
    9. development of regulations for accepting internship researchers, doctoral students, and independent researchers in accordance with the order issued by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
    10. ensuring timely passage of annual assessments for internship researchers, doctoral students, and independent researchers;
    11. assistance in the implementation of scientific and technical developments and the practical application of their results by professors, internship researchers, doctoral students, and independent researchers;
    12. creation of conditions for obtaining documentary evidence of patents and publications of scientific works on the scientific topics of young scientists;
    13. organization of internships and study trips to leading higher education institutions, research centers, and production enterprises for young scientists;
    14. improvement of the publication activity of professors, internship researchers, doctoral students, and independent researchers;
    15. strengthening integration processes in education and training, increasing the effectiveness of scientific activities through collaboration with leading research centers, organizations, and enterprises in the field of agriculture;
    16. organization and conduct of scientific events, discussions, seminars, symposia, and national and international conferences to develop agriculture in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Scientific Activities: The institute has a total of 310 professors and lecturers, with 297 actively working in the main staff. Among them, 15 hold a doctoral degree, professors, 119 are doctoral candidates and associate professors, and 163 are senior lecturers and assistants. The number of professors with academic degrees in the institute is 134, constituting 45.1% of the scientific potential.
After completing higher education, the institute is currently conducting research work in scientific and research work in 101 doctoral and postgraduate students in 20 specialties. As of now, there are 3 doctoral students (DSc), 96 postgraduate students (PhD), 2 purposeful researchers, and 31 independent researchers who are actively involved in scientific research projects.
Additionally, the institute has two specialized councils, namely 06.01.08 – Plant Science and 06.01.01 – General Farming, which award scientific degrees in agricultural specialties. Furthermore, the institute has successfully organized and held the activities of scientific councils in 05.07.01 – Agriculture and Melioration Machinery.

In the faculty departments, a total of 32 professors and lecturers defended their doctoral (DSc) and philosophy (PhD) theses in 2023. Among them, 2 received the title of Doctor of Science (DSc) and 30 received the title of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
Among those who defended their dissertations in 2023, 1 doctoral student (DSc) and 5 postgraduate students (PhD) completed their scientific works ahead of schedule. Moreover, 1 postgraduate student and 14 independent researchers successfully defended their dissertation research within the established timeframe, and 7 independent researchers defended their dissertation research after the deadline.
In 2023, a total of 16 professors and lecturers received scientific titles in the institute, including 3 professors and 13 associate professors.
During 2023, the institute implemented 3 innovative projects with a total financial volume of 3.1 billion Uzbekistani sums. Notably, these projects include IL-43-2105783 “Development of Technologies for the Ecologization of Cotton and Maize Cultivation Based on the Complex Use of Organomineral Fertilizers and Physiological Active Compounds in the Conditions of Uzbekistan,” with a financial volume of 1.0 billion sums. Another project is PZ-202012181, with a financial volume of 1.6 billion sums, on the topic of “Development of Technology for Obtaining Cottonseed Oil with High Gossypol Content by Applying Non-Biological (O’YUCH) Waves.” The third project, IL-47-21071162, with a financial volume of 500 million sums, is dedicated to “Creating a Model of a Machine for Harvesting Late Cotton.”
Additionally, the institute successfully implemented 2 international projects in 2023 with a total financial volume of 86,101 thousand dollars. Notably, these projects include BUZNET (B-learning Uzbekistan Veterinary Network), focused on adapting education in Uzbekistan’s veterinary sector, with a financial volume of 5,236 thousand dollars. The second project is carried out in collaboration with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and involves the renovation of a dairy processing plant with a financial volume of 80,865 thousand dollars.
A project on the development of a milk processing plant, within the framework of the project implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) on the topic “Ensuring Sustainable Development of Rural Areas in Uzbekistan,” has been expanded at the information and consulting center of the institute. The project involves the production of various types of products at the “Dairy Processing Plant,” including sour cream, fermented milk, butter, cottage cheese, and cheese.
Moreover, the institute’s professors and lecturers implemented 2 Spin – OFF projects in 2023 with a total financial value of 230 million sums. These projects include the “Introduction of Organic Vegetable Cultivation in Greenhouses” with a financial value of 200 million sums and the “Cultivation of Rare and Decorative Plant Seedlings in Greenhouses” with a financial value of 30 million sums. These projects were financed from the funds of the institute’s Scientific and Innovation Development Fund and are currently being implemented.

Scientific and Scholarly Works: In 2023, a total of 500 scientific articles were published in international journals, 272 in scientific journals recognized by the SAC (OAK) (Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences), 375 in international conferences, 326 in scientific collections of national conferences held in the Republic, and a total of 51 scientific articles were published in journals indexed in the Scopus database.
