The Department of Plant science, Soybeans and Oilseeds was created in 1964 under the name “Cotton science” at the Faculty of Agronomy. Until now, Kadyrov Yu.Z. (1967-1976), Alibekov A. (1976-1980), M. Mannopova (1980-1990), O. Mirzaev (1990-2004), O. Yakubzhonov (2004-2008), Z. Bostonov (2008-2012) , Zh. Tuychiev (2012-2013), I. Ruziev (2013-2015), Kh. Tursunov (2015-2016), Z. Zhumaboev (2016-2018), Z. Zhumaboev ( 2020-2023) and A. Ulzhaboev (2023-2023). Head of the department.
Recently, from the department of “Cotton science”, such departments as “ Crop Growing”, “Agrochemistry and Soil Science”, “General Agriculture”, “Botany” have been separated into independent departments. The name of the department has not changed. Associate professors Kadyrov S., Tukhsinov M., Akbaev R., Jalolov T. and Mirzaev O. worked at the department for many years.
In 2005-2012, the Department of Cotton science and Plant science was united under the name “Crop science”, and associate professors Kadirov Yu.Z., Kan A.A., Trushkina L.P., Mirzaev O.F. worked at this department. .f.n. Z. Zhumaboev, Z. Bustonov, Zh. Tuychiev and assistants E. Asranov, O. Kadirov, K. Khamdamov, I. Iminov, I. Zhuraev. According to the order of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated August 29, 2020 No. 135 “On approval of the Charter and organizational structure of the Tashkent State Agrarian University and its branches and the Andijan Institute of Agriculture and Agricultural Technologies,” the Department of Plant science, Soybeans and Oilseeds was created on the basis of the Department of Plant science.
Today there are 20 professors working at the department. Of these, 4 are doctors of science and professors, 6 associate professors, 2 senior teachers, doctors of agricultural sciences, 2 senior teachers, 1 assistant doctor of agricultural sciences, 3 senior teachers without academic degrees, 4 assistant
Over the past three years, one M.S.Atabaeva successfully defended the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Sciences, three A.M. Tagaev, I.G. Nosirov and F.M. Atakhadzhieva successfully defended the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Sciences. As a result, today the scientific potential of the department is 61.1 percent.
