In the world practice, the most effective way to collect detailed information on the exact population, age, sex, citizenship, ethnic composition, marital status, occupation, employment, source of income and other aspects is to organize a census. Therefore, serious preparations are underway for the first census in 2023.
The United Nations, in its 2015 resolution, recommends that member states conduct a census at least once every ten years. So what does this give us? First of all, reliable data on the population of the republic and its living conditions are formed through the population census. For example, how many people are unemployed in Fergana? How many families need housing in Andijan? How many more educational institutions need to be built in Syrdarya? In what years were the houses built in Kashkadarya mainly? How many people actually live in Tashkent and so on. The practice of the census provides an opportunity to answer many similar questions and find solutions to problems.
– Many people see the census as a form of statistical data collection. However, this is not just a statistic, but a large-scale event that allows you to see a photo of the population at a given time, – said the head of the Department of Organization and Conduct of Registration of the State Statistics Committee Kabil Berdikulov. – In order to hold this large-scale, time-consuming and costly event at the state level, it is necessary to carry out preparatory work for 2-3 years in accordance with international requirements.
