In 1964, it began to function as an independent department under the name of the Department of Agrochemistry and Soil Science within the Faculty of Agronomy.

The Department of Agrochemistry and Soil Science is part of the Faculty of Plant Protection, Agrochemistry and Soil Science; in total, 13 professors and teachers work at the department. The head of the department is Ruziev Ikromzhon Ergashevich, Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor.

Senior teacher of the Department of Agrochemistry and Soil Science Zhuraev Alizhan, received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Sciences on the basis of the protocol of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 322/1 dated August 31, 2022. (01 No. 007393)

In November 2023, associate professor of the department Khusanov S. received level B2 with 80 points according to the TOEFL iBT certification system for proficiency in foreign languages.

The head of the department, associate professor Ruziev I. and associate professor Khusanov S., delivered 14-18-hour lectures at the South Kazakhstan University named after Mukhtar Avezov in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is included in the top 1000 international rankings.

The head of the department, Associate Professor Ruziev I. and Professor Uraimov T. were awarded the badge “Uzbekistan Respublikasi qishloq huzhaligi fidoisi”, senior lecturer of the department Yakhekulova M. Certificate of Honor from the Ministry of Higher Education Education, Science and Innovation.

The textbook “Soil Science and Geology” was published for students of the specialty “Agrochemistry and Agro-Soil Science” by the head of the department, associate professor I.E. Ruziev, a textbook on the discipline “Soil Science and Agrochemistry” for students in the areas of education Agronomy, sericulture and mulberry growing, forestry, storage and primary processing agricultural products, textbook “Ecological problems of soil science and agrochemistry” for students in the areas of education Agronomy, “Agrochemistry and agro-soil science”, forestry, textbook “Agrochemistry” for students in the areas of education sericulture and mulberry production, forestry, for students in the areas of education sericulture and mulberry production, forestry textbook “Soil Science” by Professor Uraimov T.

At the department, under the leadership of T. Uraimov, the implementation of a scientific and practical project on the topic “Creation of eco-friendly technologies for the cultivation of sunflower and corn based on the integrated use of organomineral fertilizers and physiologically active substances in the conditions of Uzbekistan” was completed on the basis of state grant IL-432105783 worth 100,000,000 soums.

In addition, at the department under the leadership of Associate Professor Ruziev I.A. The Spinoff project is being implemented, specializing in growing organic vegetables in a greenhouse.
